Porcelain Veneers
Do you smile confidently when you interact with others? Or do you feel self-conscious about problems like broken, chipped, or poorly proportioned teeth? Do wide gaps and uneven spacing cause you to be the one person that never smiles in group photos?
Porcelain veneers at Elgin Family Dental address all these problems and more and leave you with a balanced, symmetrical smile, and no one ever has to know that you weren't born with those beautiful teeth.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Dr. Carl and Dr. Scott use dental veneers to easily cover imperfections that impact the overall appearance of your smile. These thin, tooth-shaped facings of ceramic blend in with and conceal natural teeth by creating a new surface. Porcelain veneers are one of the best options to transform your smile without invasive treatments and can be used to correct the following problems:
- Tooth chips, fractures, or breakage
- Uneven gaps and spacing
- Size discrepancies
- Severe staining or discoloration
- Slight misalignment problems
We can place as few as two veneers to restore a harmonious appearance, or you can opt for a full set to create a stunning smile makeover.
What Is the Process for Placing Veneers?
The very first step in the process is a consultation with either Dr. Carl or Dr. Scott to discuss your goals for a more attractive smile. We have many cosmetic dental options to choose from, and in some cases, there may be a procedure that fits your needs better.
Dental porcelain is highly durable and closely resembles the appearance of dental enamel. We start the process by slightly altering your tooth to accommodate the thickness of the veneers, and then we take an impression.
At Elgin Family Dental, we have developed relationships with some of the top custom dental labs in the country, and they use our specifications to customize stunning, natural-looking veneers that blend seamlessly with your smile.
The process takes about two weeks, and when you return for your second appointment, we will check the veneers for fit, make adjustments as necessary, and bond them to the front surface of your teeth.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the process for our team is the happy look on the faces of patients who see their smile for the first time after getting their veneers placed. It’s no wonder that veneers are such a popular option!
How Do I Care for My Veneers?
Even though you look like you were born with that beautiful smile after getting veneers, you should remember that dental porcelain is not indestructible. Cut out or minimize foods like hard nuts or popcorn that can chip or crack your veneers, and if you chew on ice, stop. If you have a teeth grinding habit, talk to us about customizing a night guard to protect your veneers from damage while you sleep.
