Since 1977, Elgin Family Dental has provided quality dentistry to families in Elgin and the surrounding communities. Dr. Carl Herring started the practice and he was later joined by his son, Dr. Scott Herring in 2005. The father-son team took the time to get to know their patients and help with their dental concerns. Dr. Carl Herring retired in 2021 and since then, Dr. Scott Herring has continued to provide his patients with individualized treatment options and the support they need to achieve excellent oral health. In the four decades Elgin Family Dental has been practicing, our dedicated team and valued patients have also become part of our extended family.

Our team enjoys having fun while we work. When you come to our office, it will feel like you’re visiting old friends; however, everyone also takes their professional roles seriously. We believe you deserve the best dental care available. Our entire staff continually trains to expand their knowledge and experience by attending continuing education seminars to provide you and your family with the best quality dental care possible in a stress-free, relaxing environment.

We Make Oral Health Care Easy

If you have a busy career or family life, it can be a challenge to find time in the day for dental appointments. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you and your family to get all the care you need without adding stress to your life.

We are open five days a week and offer hours starting at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday so you can schedule a convenient visit before school or work.

Dental insurance and financing the cost of care are important issues for everyone, and our front office staff will be happy to assist you with the details and answer your questions. We accept most PPO insurances including Aetna, Delta, Humana, and United Healthcare. Please visit our financial page for a complete list of insurance plans as well as our other financing options. Our front office staff will handle the entire claims process, so you can relax and take care of your oral health. They will help you understand your benefits and how to get the most out of them.

In addition to preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental services, our practice welcomes a visiting orthodontist twice a month to provide orthodontic treatments, so our patients do not have to travel out of town.
