Meet Dr. Carl F. Herring
Dr. Carl F. Herring is a native Texan, who was born and raised in San Antonio. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Longhorn Band. After graduating, he decided to pursue the same career as his grandfather, and he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1977 from Baylor College of Dentistry, located in Dallas, Texas.
To Dr. Carl Herring, Elgin has a wonderful small town atmosphere with the bonus of close proximity to the sporting events at UT. Dr. Herring has been practicing excellent, family oriented general dentistry in Elgin since 1977, where he has watched the town grow and prosper for over 30 years. He loves being a part of and serving this community!
Dr. Carl Herring is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). He is a past president of the Elgin Chamber of Commerce, and he currently sits on its board of directors and its executive committee. Dr. Herring is also a past president of the Elgin Kiwanis Club.
Dr. Herring and his wife, Debbie, are active members of Elgin’s First United Methodist Church. Scott and Robyn Herring, their two children, were born and raised in Elgin. Family is an important part of the Herrings' lives and their dental practice.
Personally, Dr. Herring is an active sports enthusiast and he tries to stay in good physical condition by exercising. He especially loves running and snow skiing. He also enjoys traveling to places he has never been.
The current expansion and complete remodel of Elgin Family Dental is an investment that Dr. Herring knows will help his office and entire team provide the state-of-the-art, comfortable, and personalized dental care that you and your family deserve.
Meet Dr. Scott B. Herring
Dr. Scott B. Herring was born and raised in Elgin, Texas. He graduated from Elgin High School with honors in 1996, and then he went on to complete his undergraduate studies at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
In May of 2005, Dr. Scott Herring graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. At graduation, he received the prestigious Excellence in Clinical Dentistry Award. He continues to strive for excellence in all that he does.
Dr. Scott Herring is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the Capitol Area Dental Society. To better provide the finest treatment dentistry has to offer, Dr. Herring is dedicated to keeping himself and his staff abreast of the latest dental advancements, techniques, and products.
In his personal life, Dr. Scott Herring enjoys sports, movies, and spending time with his wife, extended family, and friends. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Elgin and are excited to be back in the area where he grew up, especially now that he’s a member of the Elgin Family Dental team!

A Clean & Safe Practice
One of the ways we take great care of our patients is by exceeding all ADA and OSHA recommended standards for a clean and safe practice. We have a dedicated area with state-of-the-art sterilization technology where every instrument is wrapped, sterilized, and made ready before your visit. Each room is also disinfected between patients. AND we perform weekly spore testing with a third party infection control center. You can rest assured that your safety and your comfort are our top priorities. Please come in and let us go above and beyond the standards for you!

We also fulfill our responsibility to pursue continuing education. We attend dental conventions, gatherings, and lectures to keep informed about new products and equipment, to stay on top of advancements in treatment procedures and techniques, and to learn how we can better serve you and your family as our patients.
